Not a Silent Lifestyle

“…because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

-Romans 10:9-10

Next to this verse, in the left margin of my Bible, I have written, “Christianity is not a silent lifestyle.” I have read and heard that verse multiple times, but only recently did I focus on the part that says “with your mouth.” Your relationship with God is not one to be hidden. It begins inside – in your heart – but it does not stay there. You can’t truly follow God and keep Him from those around you. Christianity is not a silent lifestyle. It is welcoming and present and powerful and inclusive.

What is your life like? Is it silent or brimming with joyful noise? This week, take a look at your life and find ways to turn up your volume, whether that means being more vocal about your faith at school or serving your family more readily. This week, don’t keep your relationship with God inside.

  1. Such a good reminder! Thanks! What some historical Christians say: “Share the gospel, and use words only when necessary”, is not biblical! God wants us to use our mouths to confess His sovereignty. 🙂
