Responding to God’s Provision

What do you do when God provides for you? If you’re like me, you probably get excited, thank Him, and then forget about it. But that’s not how He wants us to react. Well, then what does He want us to do? Psalm 105 tells exactly what to do.

In the first verse there’s already three things: give thanks, call upon God’s name, and make known His deeds. What next? Verse two says we are to sing praises to Him and, again, tell others about His works. Verse 4 says we are to seek His presence and strength continually. Verse 5 says we are to remember. And finally, verse 45 says we are to praise Him.

Let’s review:

1. Give thanks — write God a letter or a song telling Him how thankful you are

2. Call upon God’s name — continue to tell God about your need and call upon Him in time of need

3. Make known His deeds — tell all your friends and family about what God has done for you.

4. Sing praises to Him — change up your quiet time and think of a special way to praise God

5. Tell others about His works — Share with other MK girls what God has done in your life by writing us at notofthisworld.r2@gmail.com

6. Seek His presence and strength continually — pray all day long and turn to your Bible in time of need. Tell Him when you get a good grade on your test, when your friend hurts you, when you’re thankful for His love, when you need comfort, etc.

7. Remember — don’t forget about what God does for you. Remember how He has been faithful to you and don’t let go of that. the verse also says to remember His judgments. Don’t forget God’s instruction and learn from His loving correction.

8. Praise Him — again, praise God for taking care of you and providing for you. Don’t say thanks and move on; really let Him know how thankful you are!

Take a minute and read Psalm 105. Then, make a list of all the ways God has provided for you this year and thank Him and praise Him for what He has done for you.

“Blessed is the man who fears the Lord…”

Today I was reading Psalm 112 and several things really stood out to me. The chapter starts with, “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments!” The rest of the chapter describes the attributes of someone who truly fears the Lord and delights in His commandments.

Here are some of the attributes that jumped out at me:

1. “For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever.” (verse 6) if you really do delight in God’s commands and fear Him then you won’t be shaken. You’ll not only stand on a firm rock, you’ll trust that the rock is firm.

2. “He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.”(verse 7) he or she is not afraid of the future and what bad things will come with the future. He trusts the Lord and gives his future to the Lord.

3. “His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.” again, the heart is mentioned again. A firm and steady heart is stressed because if your heart is firm in God then you won’t be afraid of what’s to come or of your enemies. You’re secure in God.

4. “He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor.” (verse 9) you’ll be aware of those in need and you’ll take care of those needs, being generous with what God has given you.

These are just a few of the things that God says about those who fear Him. Grab your Bible and read the rest of the chapter. Journal about what you read. Are you fearing the Lord and delighting in His commands?

What’s Your Favorite Bible Verse?

My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 55:22. It reads, “Cast your burdens on the Lord and He will sustain you.” That verse gives me so much comfort and peace in time of pain and worry. It also gives me security to know that there’s always someone I can run to when everything’s against me.

What’s your favorite Bible verse?
